Diaphragm dosing technology

Highly accurate and shear-free dosing and mixing of liquids and abrasive media

Advantages of our technology

Where everyone else gives up, we're just getting started

PROMERA’s membrane dosing systems represent the “premier class” of our dosing technology and are synonymous with the highest precision and reliability. They are used in applications where conventional methods reach their limits:

  • Extremely high viscosity (up to 1,000,000 mPas) and, as a result, high pressure (up to approx. 200 bar).
  • High temperature (up to 170°C)
  • Abrasive or corrosive liquids (quartz sand-filled polyol or peroxide-based cross-linking agent).
  • Reactive or sensitive liquids, such as isocyanates, UV-curing coatings, or metallic paints.
  • Dynamic and time-sensitive dosing tasks involving two- or multi-component systems.
  • Process reliability: Reliable operation with system availability exceeding 98%.
  • Dosiergenauigkeit von <0,1%.

A modular system makes it possible to configure the right system for a wide range of tasks with relatively little engineering effort. If necessary, the modular system can be supplemented with system-specific components (valves, mixing heads, etc.).

How PROMERA Membrane Dosing Technology Works

The principle behind diaphragm metering technology is to isolate the sensitive components from the process or the material as much as possible. Only the diaphragm and the inlet and outlet valves come into contact with the dispensed liquid (no gears, pistons, or dynamically stressed seals in contact with the material). This enables the processing of liquids that would quickly destroy any piston dispenser or gear pump.

  • The hydraulic metering axis generates a highly precise flow rate of hydraulic oil. This flow rate is converted 1:1 into a flow rate of the metered liquid within the diaphragm metering unit by means of a patented double diaphragm.
  • For continuous dosing, two dosing axes (a pair of axes) or the two sides of a diaphragm dosing unit always work together as a single unit.
  • All process parameters and the condition of the membranes and valves are monitored via the position of the metering shaft and the pressure of the metering oil.
  • The flow control compensates for factors such as backpressure from the pipes or the elasticity of the entire system.

    Loss-free fluid control

The highly accurate hydraulic flow is converted without loss into an identical fluid flow, enabling exceptional precision.

    Patented double diaphragm

Our technology ensures a reliable separation between the neutral liquid and the process fluid. This guarantees the purity of the materials and trouble-free operation.

    Consistent dosing quality

Thanks to its innovative design, dosing accuracy remains consistently stable. This is a fundamental prerequisite for the optimal execution of chemical mixing processes.

Components of PROMERA Membrane Dosing Technology

    Hydraulic dosing axis

The hydraulic metering axis generates a highly precise flow rate of hydraulic oil. Using special functions in the sequence control, the axis also automatically monitors the condition of the diaphragm metering valve, thereby ensuring consistent metering accuracy.

The dosing axis is identical in every system, regardless of the liquid being processed and all process parameters

    Membrane dosing pump

The diaphragm metering unit is the component that comes into contact with the metered liquid. It consists of two chambers (left and right) that work together as a single unit. Each chamber is separated by a double diaphragm into a “material side” and an “oil side.” The “oil side” is connected to the dosing shaft. The “material side” has an inlet and outlet valve that are actively switched by the control system.

The double diaphragm is identical in every system. The other components of the dosing unit (base body, valves) are tailored to the specific application.

    • Depending on the fluid, system pressure, and temperature, we use base bodies made of coated aluminum, stainless steel, or POM.
    • The valves also form a modular system: Depending on the application, the two system sizes can be equipped with different sealing systems, actuators, and valve seats, and are actuated hydraulically or pneumatically depending on the system pressure.

The plug and play solution for your production

Our compact diaphragm dosing system offers you a fully integrated and stand-alone solution in a compact cabinet. It combines all the necessary components in one unit and is the ideal choice for companies that prefer a quick and uncomplicated installation.

The low-pressure diaphragm dosing system is particularly suitable for dosing and mixing 2 or 3 components in a dynamic dosing ratio that can be flexibly adjusted via the software. The system is perfect for coating and painting applications, especially when processing filled, abrasive or chemically aggressive liquids.
