2K Membrane Dosing System with Manual Mixing Head

Project at a Glance: Sustainability Meets High-Pressure Precision

With this 2K membrane dispensing system for PU sealant, PROMERA has succeeded in significantly reducing the amount of hazardous waste in the client’s production line. Thanks to the system, the required two-component sealant no longer needs to be dispensed from standard 400-ml disposable cartridges. Instead, bulk containers such as IBCs and FluidBags are now used in precisely metered quantities.

What are the key specifications of this special PROMERA system?

  • System: 2K high-pressure diaphragm metering system with 4 metering units.
  • Handling: A specially designed hose cart with a hose reel for a 12-meter-long hose bundle.
  • Control: Pneumatic "control cylinder" for remote control of the hose cart and selection of operating modes for the metering system.
  • Mixing system: A specially designed manual mixing head at the end of the hose assembly.
  • Material supply: Material stations with intermediate tanks for both components; dispensing from IBCs and FluidBags using pneumatic PROMERA diaphragm pumps.

System Components in Detail

Dosing System

Overview and structure

2-COMPONENT HIGH-PRESSURE MEMBRANE DOSING SYSTEM CONSISTING OF 4 UNITS, EACH WITH 2 COMPONENTS:

  • SUPPLY:
The system features a shared central hydraulic system for all 4 units as well as a shared material supply.
  • CAPACITY:
The output is approximately 2.5 kg/min per unit.
  • CHALLENGE:
Despite the extremely different flow characteristics of the components, the correct mixing ratio must be guaranteed immediately upon injection at the end of the 12-meter hose assembly. This is ensured by the specific design of the piping, the specially developed mixing head, and the parameterization of the metering axes.

Hose cart with hose reel

Overview and structure

  • DESIGN:
The diaphragm metering pumps are mounted on the hose cart to keep the metering lines as short as possible. The dosing lines and the pneumatic control lines from the control cylinder form a 12-meter-long hose bundle. Due to the different degrees of expansion in the material hoses and pneumatic lines, the bundle is folded in a “zigzag” pattern between rollers rather than being rolled up.
  • OPERATION:
The operator can ergonomically move the hose cart using the control lever and wind the hose on and off the reel.

Dispenser bottle with manual mixing head

Overview and structure

REMOTE CONTROL:
The hose reel and the metering system are remotely controlled via the pneumatic control cylinder (process control, winding/unwinding, mode selection). The pneumatic control system ensures high operational reliability and resistance to contamination.

ERGONOMICS:
The operator wears the control cylinder on a belt and pulls the hose assembly behind him. Due to its size and weight, the control cylinder was designed as a special ergonomic model (back-friendly operation).

MIXING HEAD:
The manual mixing head is a custom design. It is designed so that the same mixing elements can be used as those employed in the original disposable cartridges.

Our Diaphragm Dosing Technology
